Integrated Positioning System

Topcon’s IP-S2 Mobile Mapping System overcomes the challenges of mapping linear features to a high level of accuracy. Accurate vehicle positions are obtained using three redundant technologies: a dual frequency GNSS receiver establishes a geospatial position; an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) tracks vehicle posse; and connection to the vehicle CAN bus or external wheel encoders obtains odometry information. These three technologies work together to sustain a highly accurate 3D position for the vehicle even in locations where satellite signals can be blocked by obstructions such as buildings, bridges, or tree lines.

IP-S2 Vehicle configurations
 

The IP-S2 standard system includes three high-resolution LiDAR scanners that cover the vehicle path at ground level and sweep the adjacent areas to a distance of 30 meters. A high-resolution digital camera can be added to provide 360 degree spherical images at a rate of 15 frames per second. Other sensors can be integrated to provide total flexibility of system configuration for a wide variety of applications. Sensor inputs are recorded and time stamped at the rate of 15 nanoseconds.

IP-S2 System features

A web-based processing service with desktop PC interface is included as part of the IP-S2 system. Vehicle position and sensor output are integrated seamlessly into one continuous three-dimensional data stream that can be exported as industry-standard formats. GNSS data can be post processed for higher accuracy. The desktop software also includes a viewer enabling the user to review point clouds generated from LiDAR scanners and make linear measurements.

The IP-S2 provides fast, high accuracy data and dynamic imaging for any linear mapping project. The vehicle-mounted system can map data at normal travel speeds for roadway surface condition assessments and roadside feature inventories. Safety is increased by removing pedestrians from the travelled lanes. Other applications include pipelines, railways, utility corridors, and waterways. Homeland security and disaster management are critically important to our health, safety and welfare. The IP-S2 is perfect for 3D street-view city mapping and provides essential information for these applications

Topcon GR-3 RTK Systems

Topcon introduces the next generation of satellite positioning technology. G3 combines all 3 satellite positioning systems - GPS, GLONASS and the European Galileo system. The new G3 chip technology also incorporates all the planned signal modernization of the GPS and GLONASS systems. It is a system that is designed for all available and planned  positioning satellite signals. A user can be assured the system they invest in today will be fully operational far into the future. Topcon G-Series GPS systems

Topcon's economical RTK base and rover solution highlights an "all-in-one" design eliminating multiple components and cables. Both models feature a new state of the art digital radio with superior signal quality, robust performance and advanced interference suppression. The HiPer Ga features GPS satellite tracking standard with optional GLONASS satellite tracking upgradability via software based OAF activation code - no hardware changes or modifications necessary.  The HiPer Ga can be configured as a cable free base and rover system or as 2 rover receivers from a fixed base or network via radio or cellular connection.  The HiPer Gb has similar hardware functionality as the Ga but with GPS onlyand fewer upgrades available. It is a very economical cable-free base and rover RTK system that can also be used as a traditional static system.  Both systems have a rugged waterproof construction with 40 channels L1/L2. Topcon HiPer Lite+ RTK GPS

Topcon's HiPer Lite+ system is a completely cable-free RTK GPS system using Bluetooth for wireless communication to the controller.  The advanced internal radio technology uses a high performance 915+ MHz, 1W Spread Spectrum Radio that provides interference free communication, base to rover, for up to 2.5 miles!  The receiver also incorporates Topcon's advanced 40 channel dual frequency GPS+ technology in their exclusive Paradigm Chip. The HiPer Lite+ offers as standard options Co-Op tracking and Advanced MultiPath Reduction (AMR) on each receiver. The receivers can be configured with GPS only (GD) or GPS plus GLONASS (GGD).  RTK positional accuracy is 10mm + 1ppm Hz and 15mm + 1ppm Vertical. The internal Lithium-Ion batteries provide up to 14 hours of operation (10 hours in transmitting mode). Professional systems include 8Mb of on-board memory and Topcon Tools for Post Processing.  Combine it with a Topcon data collector for maximum performance!
